Happy 200th Birthday, Honest Abe!

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

February 12th is Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday! Many educators are planning to celebrate with a party! Take advantage of our movie, online interactive activities, and additional suggestions to make your celebration a success! Here’s a tip from BrainPOP Jr’s Grown Ups Guide:

President’s Day Party

In honor of President’s Day, throw a birthday party for Abraham Lincoln. Students can dress up as the president by making beards out of cotton balls and hats out of construction paper. Have students discuss Abraham Lincoln’s achievements and the qualities of his character. The class can sing “Happy Birthday” to Lincoln and make plaques, monuments, or memorials to the president in class.

You’ll find a great stovepipe hat project to go along with our movie, a funny Belly Up comic to read with your class, and other great Abraham Lincoln Teacher and Family Activity Suggestions from BrainPOP Jr.’s Grown Ups Guide! Our Abraham Lincoln movie and interactive features will be FREE all week!
