My Education, My Future
Welcome Back to School! Today is the first day of school for many American school children. To celebrate, President Barack Obama will address our nation’s students to emphasize the value of education. Get a sneak peek of his brief prepared speech, and checkout BrainPOP’s movie on Presidential Power and BrainPOP Jr.’s movie on the President. BrainPOP’s Red, White, and Blue Spotlight is also a terrific resource for a quick review of the branches of government, democracy, or the U.S. constitution.
How are you celebrating the first day of school?

The president’s speech is an extremely controversial topic and especially so in the homeschooling community. We use Brainpop for several subjects in our own homeschool and I’m very disappointed you would not consider this controversy before promoting the speech. I might have to re-think my continued subscription.

I cannot believe that when the president of the United States encourages youths to stay in school, try their best, and work hard that anyone has a problem with that. The department of education provided additional resources if teachers wanted to take the speech to another level and didn’t have the time or gumption to prepare a lesson plan for it. Their was no political agenda. If you are homeschooling your child, then I believe it would be important to teach controversial topics as well. Let the kids then analyze the speech and take home a positive message. Keep it up BrainPOP!
