Webinar Alert: NetTrekker and BrainPOP Giving Meaning to Memorial Day!
Wednesday, May 16 3:00PM ET:
Memorial Day is more than the summer kickoff – it’s an important topic to address in the classroom. BrainPOP and Knovation (formerly netTrekker) team up to help you identify the most engaging lessons and useful resources focusing on the holiday. We’ll demonstrate the pairing of BrainPOP’s high-quality content with Knovation’s extensive Social Studies collection and useful search and resource building features. Take home best practices for creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences for your students to remember this day and what it is all about.
This webinar showed how to make Memorial Day more meaningful to children. Nettrekker had the Taps Memorial Day concert and links to the National WWWII museum in New OIrleans. Brain Pop has several resources like the Armed Forces movie and the Red, White, and Blue Spotlight.
This was a great webinar that I really enjoyed. As a person who has a close friend who is now a veteran, all holidays like Memorial Day are special. Although vets and active military need to be thanked everyday, it is important to teach our students the importance of these holidays. A lot of people do not truly know how difficult being in the military is. I really liked the Nettrekker and might use it in my classroom. BrainPOP always has such great information that I benefit from in my classroom
Great webinar! As a history teacher, the resources that I can use are plentiful. The engagement level of Nettrekker makes me think of Twitter as well. Thank you for the great information!
I love how BrainPOP highlights the holidays! Our students need to know the importance and history of the holidays we celebrate in our country.
Excellent webinar! As a third grade teacher, the most valuable resources for me that I discovered in this webinar include the Spotlight: Red, White and Blue on BrainPopJr. Also, the idea of writing to a magazine/newspaper made me think of how I could put a “digital spin” on that idea for my students. I’m thinking of having my students tweet about Memorial Day. I plan on checking out the resources available from the Library of Congress as well. Thank you for the great information!
Sooo much information!
How nice to have organizations like Brain Pop and Knovation compile these resources for us. I’ll few the archived webinar again (and again?) for tools/tips I may have missed the first time around.
Thanks to you all -
Thank you for an informative webinar!
I am New to Brainpop and I was looking for away to find multiple resources about our holidays that are strictly American for US history class and WOW! I like how I can see the history from multiple sites (great idea for webquest. Knovation I think what it is called or netTrekker is awesome. I can’t wait to get in the archives and go over this webinar again in case I missed something great Job Carrie and Dawn!
This was a great webinar!! I had never seen anything from Nettrekker before, but it seems to have a vast array of resources available for students to use. I am interested in learning more about it. I already use Brainpop in my classroom but I sometimes forget about using the correlating activity pages that go with each topic, so this was a great reminder for me of all that Brainpop has to offer! I enjoyed it!
I viewed the archived webinar: Moby, Moby, What Do You See? Scavenger Hunts with BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. Great ideas! I can’t wait to create a scavenger hunt to get students searching for answers in my technology classes.
