BrainPOP, Game Based Learning and the Global Education Conference
The third annual Global Education Conference is an online international education extravaganza, slated to take place November 12-17, 2012. It is designed to significantly increase opportunities for globally-connecting educators (primary, secondary and tertiary levels), students, and organizations.
BrainPOP® is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Global Education Conference to develop a new gaming strand for the 2012 Event. In addition to general session strands for teachers and students on curriculum, policy, and leadership, the conference is now seeking proposals for the new strand’s game-based learning sessions.
BrainPOP will be lending its expertise and support to the conference by curating the new gaming strand. Game designers, students, and aficionados alike are invited to read more about the conference and to submit a proposal for consideration by October 15, 2012.
Game-based learning and game design are currently hot education topics, and the Global Education Conference co-chairs are thrilled to be working with BrainPOP to highlight game play within a global education context. Some examples of session titles might be: “Building Global Citizenship Skills Through Serious Game Play” or “Connecting Cultures and People Through MMORPGS”. We can’t wait to bring educators and game makers together during this truly unique event, and hope that you will be equally excited about introducing a new audience to the promise of game-based learning.
Please keep in mind that gaming proposals must directly relate to the event’s mission:
The conference seeks to present ideas, examples, and projects that help connect educators and classrooms, with a strong emphasis on promoting global awareness, fostering global competency, and inspiring action towards solving real–world problems. It is our hope that attendees will challenge themselves and others to become more active citizens of the world. Let us learn, question, create, and engage in meaningful, authentic opportunities within a global context!
Again, please consider submitting a proposal by October 15th. Don’t forget to join BrainPOP’s affinity group within the GEC community, too!
