Webinar Alert: Differentiating with BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr.
Wednesday, November 14th at 4:00 PM ET- Differentiating With BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr.
This week, we welcome staff from New York City’s Churchill School, dedicated to helping students with learning disabilities. Technology integrator Wendy Semsel and her colleagues will discuss best practices for using BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. in their unique setting. This is a great webinar for teachers working with special needs and mainstreamed students alike.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m looking for technology resources that I can use with children in my placement who seem to have no problem with the concepts but are struggling with putting them on paper. I intend to try using Comic Life and Clicker to help. I also took screenshots of the many websites that can serve to give the early finishers in my class meaningful extensions to the lessons: BrainPop, Poisson Rouge, Invention at Play, Planet 10 word builder…etc. Another great resource with this webinar was the apps that are targeted to specific needs the children may have, like Dexteria for example.
I will definitely revisit this webinar as I start student teaching next semester, to find support for specific student profiles in my classroom.
This webinar was super helpful. Not only did it provide great ideas, it was full of resources! Thank you! I have a student who scripts brainpop videos so I love the idea of the students making their own. I can’t wait to try.
I was so glad to hear about all of the different programs I can use to differentiate my instruction! Thank you, BrainPOP!
I learned about several programs, sites, and applications such as Garageband, Pixie, the Clicker, iMovie, Kidspiration and Read and Write Gold. These would all be great to use in a classroom with a variety of different types of learners.
Thank you so much for all the resources and multiple ideas. I love the concept o using a BrainPop video as a transitional activity.
Thanks for the information on Kidspiration. I think it would be very helpful to use in the classroom.
I found it a little intimidating being in on my first webinar, but next time I will know better what to do. These kinds of (uncertain)situations always remind me how the kids must feel when presented with new info. It was fun. Thanks!
I enjoyed learning about all the new programs and applications to incorporate in the classroom. Garageband and iMovie will probably be used a lot.
I liked the idea of using Clicker. I have a lot of non-writers. Hopefully that will help promote a little enthusiasm for writing.
Loved learning about the applications that can be incorporated, such as garageband, and iMovie. These will be perfect for our classroom.
this was excellent and I cany wait to visit all these sites esp. Garageband, Pixie, Kisperation and read and write Gold
Great to learn about so many app’s and site. I am very excited ot try the garageband and Imovies. I recently recieved clicker for my class and am even more excited to try now. Here is a problem I tend to run into. Teaching at the high school level, I often run across sites/app’s that are fuctionaly approreate for my students level but are so “little kidish” presentation wise. Sometimes 19 years olds are resistant to use a program designed at an elementary levl. Does anyone have any suggested sites?
This was very informative and I am excited to check into all the sites listed!!thank you
The information on Kidspiration was helpful. This is new to me and I think it would be great to use in class. Thanks so much!
Loved learning about all the different applications to help students who struggle with reading but are able to use the apps in order to complete tasks. Also, can’t wait to get started with some of the garageband and moviemaker/iMovie things to help differentiate with my student(s).
Terrific learing about the new technology websites. You had so many that I had never heard of! Great information, many thanks for sharing!!
I loved learning about GarageBand and Dragon Dictation. Such great programs with so many fun things to learn about them.
I joined the webinar late but really appreciate the information I received. I hadn’t heard of drag n’ drop before. That may be very helpful for some of my students that have writing deficits. I use Brainpop often. My students love it during Math!
I enjoyed the idea of using Brainpop as a transitional tool for a noisy classroom. I know just the class to try that!
Am excited to explore the various programs and see how I can utilize them in my classroom. Thanks so much!
I really the app capabilities for our students.
Most of the programs sounded really wonderful, but we teach in a title one district with little technology. We were a bit disappointed because most of the content of this webinar was only useful to people with laptops and ipads for all or most students.
I loved hearing more information about Dragon Dictation and Garage Band. I’ve never used them to their fullest capacity, and hopefully I can now.
I enjoyed the idea of using Brainpop as a transitional tool for a noisy classroom. I know just the class is going to try that!
I love the idea of Dragon Dictation. I’ve used it at home, but hadn’t thought to use it at work for the struggling writers who have great ideas. I also like the idea of using Garage Band…it’s more than just a ring tone maker!
Thank you for a great webinar. I am really interested in the clicker. Will try that soon.
I enjoyed learning about the existence of so many different programs. I’m looking forward to trying them in my classroom in the near future.
Loved learning about all the different programs that Wendy and Shannon gave. I am going to try them in my classroom!
