Chef Solus’ Build-a-Meal Game is Now on GameUp

Posted by cemignano on

We’re excited to introduce Chef Solus’ Build-a-Meal game, created by Nourish Interactive. We invited Maggie LaBarbera, RN MBA and President of Nourish Interactive to share a bit of background on our newest GameUp game.

We have a fantastic free interactive game that will reinforce healthy habits and food choices. This game teaches children about the five food groups and how to create a healthy meal. Designed for students in grades 3-6, Chef Solus Build-a-Meal Game allows children to create customized balanced meal plans by selecting foods from three virtual scenes: a kitchen, school cafeteria, and a grocery store. This game is based on the USDA My Plate Guidelines. Students will need to select their gender, age and activity level to play this game. The game will automatically compute the calories and number of servings from each food group required for this student to have a balanced healthy diet. To win the game, the child must create 3 meals and 2 snacks that provide all the servings from the foods groups and stay within their calorie requirement.

Audio help is available. You can also use our Build-a-Meal Lesson Plan and additional support materials for more pre- and post-game educational activities.
