Gaming in Education

Join the Gaming in Ed Online Conference This September

Posted by SM Bruner on

Join conference founder Steve Hargadon along with BrainPOP’s own Allisyn Levy as they co-chair the first Gaming in Ed conference! This is a free event that will be held entirely online, bringing together educators, researchers, game developers, and innovators from around the world. The 2014 conference dates are Monday, September 15th through Friday September 19th and all sessions will be recorded for later viewing.

Whether you’re passionate about game-based learning or just getting your toes wet, the Gaming in Ed celebrates the value that games offer in educational settings: a safe environment for taking on new roles, opportunities for creative problem solving and experimenting, and learning from failure.  When done well, games can foster collaboration, strengthen critical and systems thinking, pose adaptive challenges, and spark inquiry. With guidance from educators, students aren’t just players, but critical evaluators of games and game designers themselves.

This conference will offer a variety of perspectives, from educators and game developers to researchers and administrators. If you’d like to present, the call for proposals is open until September 1st. You can also register now to attend, and join in the conversations already happening on the #GamingInEd14 Twitter hashtag. We’re looking forward to connecting with you!
