We’re thrilled to announce that all 11 topics in our Black History spotlight include primary sources!
Black History Month is an ideal opportunity to incorporate primary sources into your lessons. Archival newspapers, essays, documents, photographs, and video clips give students a direct experience of raw history as it was made. Using primary sources to formulate original analyses and arguments turns history students into true historians. In the process, students will hone their literacy skills across broad disciplines and media.
Primary Sources already accompany more than 60 BrainPOP topics, and we’re adding new ones every week. To access them, simply click the ACTIVITIES button on a topic page, and look for the PRIMARY SOURCE tab.
