Hi. I'm the teacher from the video. I really highly suggest that you use the FYI pages and the activity pages. They are a great way to extend the videos and to have the students practice note taking. I usually watch the video twice when they are note taking. If you have an interactive whiteboard, you can pause the movie after Tim reads the letter and after having kids turn and talk or having them quick write, you (or they) can record their answers on the letter using interactive pens.

I just watched the video and found it very helpful. My school recently purchased a subscription to BrainPop and I have been using it in my classroom. It was great to watch another classroom and to see how it is used other places. Now I have more ideas to try! Thanks!

Wow - thanks so much for your comment, Elizabeth! It's really great to hear that it's useful to you! I'd love to hear more about how BrainPOP fits into the Marzano principles! Thanks.

Allisyn,

Thank you so much for posting this video! It's wonderful getting a peek into a classroom and seeing how teachers are using BrainPOP to teach crucial life-long learning skills. Since note taking is something we talk about at length in McREL's research (Marzano et al, 2001), I was especially thrilled with how this teacher uses BrainPOP to teach that particular skill.

Keep up the great work,
Elizabeth
