Educator Resources for Lord of the Flies
This game is based on William Golding’s novel Lord of the Flies, an exciting book about a group of young boys who are isolated on a desert island. The game introduces some basic analytical aspects of the book to challenge the reader’s memory through play and is an excellent tools for review and assessment. Students will explore questions such as: Who are the different characters in the book Lord of the Flies? What is a symbol? How can you interpret the book? The Lord of the Flies game presents one possible interpretation of Golding’s book, which is no more legitimate than any other. As Golding himself claimed, “The right interpretation is the one that rises to the reader the first time he reads the book.”
