Educator Resources for Master Mines
Through the MasterMInes game, students can travel around the Americas to various mines and investigate rare caverns and caves. Students then take their findings back to the virtual lab where they can identify their mysterious crystals. Students can play as one of three Argonauts while virtual guides Emily and Dr. Wise assist them in the process of discovering, testing and identifying minerals.

In this lesson plan, which is adaptable for grades 6-12, students use BrainPOP resources to explore how rocks and minerals are classified by their physical and chemical properties. Students will complete a virtual investigation of the formation of rocks and minerals and practice identifying and classifying them through online game play. Through the game, they will also explore the interrelated nature of rocks and minerals and learn how they explain the changes we see on Earth.
