Develop background knowledge and build historical context by exploring the BrainPOP biographies of Adams, Clinton, Jackson, Jefferson, Kennedy, Lincoln, Madison, Nixon, Reagan Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt and Washington. How could you use these biographical animations to help students build understanding of the current candidates and election?

I might divide students into small groups and have them watch one historical biography per group. Then they have to identify 3 important moments or decisions that the president was involved with. Using an enormous chart and timeline, everyone could report back to the group and categorize the kind of impact the presidents made. By making the categories broad enough, like international relations, domestic policy, health, education, taxes, you can create an killer collaborative timeline of presidential power!
