BrainPOP and Common Sense Media have some terrific online resources for helping students, teachers and parents learn more about digital citizenship. How can you imagine using these resources?

We have used BrainPop in our school for 5 years. I am always excited to learn something new to share with the rest of the staff. Thanks for the webinar and good work that you do.

Thank you for the introduction to Common Sense Media. I love all the digital citizen lessons both companies shared. The footprint lesson will be great to use with my kids as well! Thanks so much!

Andrew – I just watched the archived version of this digital citzenship webinar. I had already discovered Common Sense Media, but hadn’t considered how vital it is to combine the two. You’re right when you say students need to have input from a variety of sources. We are starting in Kindergarten to talk about Internet safety & telling a ‘trusted adult’ when things make us uncomfortable. I plan to post CSM’s tip sheets on my IMC blog. I also plan to use netsmartz.org in my lessons. By the time my students leave 5th grade and head up to the intermediate school, I know they’ll be excellent digital citizens. ;) Thanks!

Our friends at Common Sense have released “digital passport” a collection of terrific games that target building digital citizenship skills. Check them out at: https://www.digitalpassport.org/educator-registration

Your digital passport is a wonderful idea for 3rd to 5th graders. Because our very youngest students are using social networking sites like club Penguin, etc., we need to begin the conversation about digital citizenship in Kindergarten. Thanks for your review of my books for young cyber surfers “Piano and Laylee Learning Adventures” published by ISTE! I have discussion questions and activities posted at https://pianoandlayleeadventures.wikispaces.com/

@ccuratolaknowles, the “digital passport” game is actually from our friends at Common Sense Media, but we are always glad to share resources (including your books:) to help educators work with children to develop digital literacy skills.
