ACEC

Australia here we come!  BrainPOP is a proud sponsor of the Australian Computers in Education Conference  and we’re heading to Perth from October 2-5.  Hosted by the Educational Computing Association of Western Australia (ECAWA), this year’s conference theme is ITS Time: Information Technology in Schools Time.  Conference presenters and attendees will focus on the diverse ways technology can utilize students’ personal learning styles to maximize their learning potential, and encourage them to become lifelong learners. If you’ll be down under for the conference, be sure to visit us in the exhibit hall and at the Promethean bus where Kari Stubbs, VP of Learning and Innovation, will be presenting the integration of BrainPOP and Promethean.  Additionally, she’ll be leading two sessions, Digital Content for a BYOD World and Digital Media in 21st Century Learning Environments – Classroom Based Ideas , which you won’t want to miss. Interested in keeping up with the hustle and bustle of the conference?  Turn to Twitter and check out #ACEC2012 so you can stay in the loop.

ISTE is heading to Australia for its first-ever study tour and our very own VP of Learning and Innovation, Dr. Kari Stubbs, has been invited to join!  Between September 28th and October 13th, sixteen ISTE members from the U.S. and Norway will stop in Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney while visiting a variety of schools, libraries, and educational organizations.  The tour group includes the ISTE president, two board members, university professors, technology directors and coordinators, classroom teachers, library media specialists, corporate representatives, and researchers. Australia is known for being a frontrunner in edtech pedagogy and practices, and tour group members are excited to explore their ideas while seeing them in action and developing long term collaboration.  The two-week tour includes participation at the Australian Council for Computers in Education conference (ACEC) where several of the group members will be presenting sessions throughout the week. Interested in tagging along?  Join the tour group virtually by checking out #isteautour and watching snippets through ISTE’s social media channels.  Be sure to check the tour’s page often for details on how to keep up with the Australian action!
