This week, our friends across the pond at BrainPOP UK will be sharing the BrainPOP love at BETT: England’s largest Education Technology extravaganza.  Not only will you find BrainPOP UK on the exhibitor floor, but Tim and Moby will be represented in some conference sessions too! If you happen to be at BETT, come stop by, say hi, get some nifty ideas, and snap that highly coveted photograph with Moby!  Even if you can’t make it to BETT, you can still read about events at BrainPOP UK by reading their POPtalk blog, just don’t tell them we sent you!

Call for Nominations – Corporate Member Representative on the ISTE Board

Dr. Kari Stubbs, Vice President of 21st Century Learning at BrainPOP, is in her first term as a corporate member of ISTE’s board. Looking for a way to get involved with ISTE? Consider volunteering or serving as a board member. Corporate members are represented on the ISTE Board by two representatives who serve a staggered two-year term.  ISTE is currently seeking qualified nominations for the position that becomes available starting June, 2012. The Call for Nominations for this position will be open January 6 – January 20, 2012. To find out more about the Board position, including brief information about the duties of this position and the Board election process, visit www.iste.org/volunteer.  Note: The nominee must be an (individual) ISTE member. The winner of the general election, held in March 2012, will serve a two-year term. The term of service for the open position begins the first day of the ISTE Board meeting immediately preceding ISTE’s Annual Conference & Exposition in 2012 and concludes a day prior to the first day of the ISTE Board meeting immediately preceding ISTE’s Annual Conference in 2014. Board members are allowed to serve a two-term maximum.

BrainPOP is proud to be a Sponsoring Partner for the 2011 Global Education Conference, held entirely online from November 14-18. With over 200 sessions presented from all over the world, the conference seeks to present ideas, examples, and projects related to connecting educators and classrooms with a strong emphasis on promoting global awareness, fostering global competency, and inspiring action towards solving real–world problems. Through this event, our friends, organizers Steve Hargadon and Lucy Gray hope that attendees will challenge themselves and others to become more active citizens of the world. As a sponsoring partner, BrainPOP is especially excited to support esteemed educational philosopher Dr. Howard Gardner’s Keynote presentation on Wednesday November 16th at 2:00PM. Dr Gardner will be interviewed about globalization, new digital media and it’s  impact on education.  It will be a compelling hour. Educate, Inform, and Inspire at TCEA 2012!

Are you transforming your pedagogy to meet the needs of 21st century learners?  We often hear stories of passionate BrainPOP Educators breaking new ground with innovative teaching practices and technology integration.  Now is the time to share this expertise and empower others by presenting or conducting a workshop at the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) 32nd Annual Convention and Exposition! This year’s conference theme is “e5 – Embark. Engage. Energize. Empower. Educate.” With this in mind, we encourage you to submit a proposal targeting the innovative ways you use technology in your learning environment in conjunction with BrainPOP, BrainPOP Jr., BrainPOP ESL, or BrainPOP Educators. The TCEA Convention and Exposition will be held in Austin, Texas on February 6-8, 2012. The due date for submission of proposals is fast approaching, May 30, 2011 by 5:00 p.m. CST!
