Recognize Earth Awareness month with BrainPOP’s spotlight and the Mixer! Our Earth Awareness spotlight includes environmentally friendly topics such as Wind Energy, Recycling, and Hybrid Cars to reinforce students’ understanding of what they can do to help our environment. We’ve even included lesson plans and games to further support this important topic. Once you’ve taken the time to explore our April spotlight, test your students’ earth awareness by creating a unique, BrainPOP quiz using the Mixer. Choose from hundreds of earth-focused quiz questions, or craft some of your own to customize and remix a quiz that meets the specific needs of your class. Here are 5 ways to shine April’s BrainPOP spotlights Earth Awareness and Money Matters into your classroom. 1) April 22nd is Earth Day – have students explore the entire Earth Awareness Spotlight page. Follow this lesson plan and help them choose their cause. 2) April 15th is tax day! Help your students understand why the grownups are grumpy by watching the taxes movie during morning meeting, or playing Budget Hero on GameUp. 3) Though many US citizens are still struggling financailly, US stocks have recently hit an all time high. Help your students explore what it means to buy shares of a publicly traded company with our stocks and shares movie. 4) April 25th is World Penguin Day! Enjoy the penguin movie and learn some fun facts about our flightless feathered friends! 5) To solve the problems of Global Climate Change, global cooperation in the key. Help increase your student’s global awareness by participating in a meaningful global collaboration project! We’re celebrating Earth Awareness month with a new lesson plan contest!  BrainPOP has teamed up with Warner Bros. and IMAX® to help raise awareness about the changing Arctic wilderness. With the upcoming release of To The Arctic, a MacGillivray Freeman Film co-produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and IMAX Filmed Entertainment, we’re providing you a wide variety of free educational resources for use in the classroom.  BrainPOP’s April spotlight is full of valuable resources focused on Earth Awareness and even includes movies on the Tundra and Glaciers.  BrainPOP Jr. users can check out the Arctic Habitats movie to teach their younger students about the topic. We want to hear how you’re using the “To The Arctic” and BrainPOP resources together to educate your students about the importance of Earth Awareness and the threatened Arctic region. Submit a lesson plan highlighting the creative use of BrainPOP or BrainPOP Jr. and other multimedia resources. April is a month of showers, flowers and season changing powers: with all this transition comes student questions!  Help them find the answers by checking out BrainPOP’s “Earth Awareness” spotlight page.  From glaciers to global warming, we have curated a wide variety of relevant topics that can help explain some pretty tricky concepts!
