February 18, 2013

It’s with pride and excitement that BrainPOP has released a new app for Windows 8 and its sidekick Windows RT for use on mobile devices such as the Microsoft Surface.  Our Windows app highlights the “tiled” beauty of the operating systems, incorporating an elegant look into the topic search and quiz features, while providing a gorgeous two toned blue sunburst background. It’s simply pretty to look at! The Windows app is available free of charge and provides access to the featured movie of the day. Featured movie topics tie in to current events, historical milestones and figures, holidays, and more! Additionally, current site subscribers can log in directly from the app to access all of BrainPOP’s award-winning content at no additional cost. This is a great benefit for school subscribers who want to provide access to BrainPOP content on Windows device that students may have at home! So, if you’re using Windows 8, download the app from the Windows 8 store and let us know what you think! After all, “the more you know, the more you know!” (and the more we want to know!)

Google BrainPOP integration

We’re excited about the ability for users of BrainPOP and Google Apps to connect the services. By doing so, everyone benefits from the ease of single sign on (sso) and the ability to send quiz scores directly to a Google spreadsheet. The embedded slideshow below will walk you through the ease of installation, but if you want a more detailed explanation, check out the webinar from March 2012. If you’re in a school that uses Google Apps and BrainPOP already, this integration is a no brainer!

BrainPOP at the NY/NJ Google Summit

Google Apps summit winner!

It was a great week for BrainPOP and Google.  We were proud sponsors of the first annual New York/New Jersey Google Summit a 2 day conference about all things Google in Education.   There was a wide variety of sessions from basic overviews of Google Apps for Education, to complex hackathons exploring the ins and outs of scripting! We met many innovative and thoughtful teachers who were excited to learn about the BrainPOP Chrome app, and the integration between Google Apps for Education and BrainPOP.  Congratulations to Angela Helzer, (pictured) from Curtis HighSchool, the lucky winner of a one year combo subscription for  BrainPOP, BrainPOP Jr and BrainPOP Espanol.  In the spirit of the paper free nature of the Google summit, Angela received a virtual certificate from BrainPOP Educator Andrew Gardner! To learn more about the connection between Google and BrainPOP, check out last week’s archived webinar, or visit our support pages.  With single sign-on and automated quiz score collection, installing the BrainPOP Google Marketplace App is a no-brainer for any school with both Google Apps and a school wide BrainPOP subscription.

Did you know that BrainPOP supports integration with Google Apps for Education? Simply installing the BrainPOP Marketplace App will provide your school with Single Sign-On and a Quiz GradeBook!  So what does this mean to you, BrainPOP and Google Apps for Education user? Single Sign-On means that  BrainPOP is conveniently accessible directly from Google Apps. After logging into your Google account, click BrainPOP from the “more” drop down menu, and voila, complete BrainPOP access, with no need to log in separately.  Gradebook means that you can automatically track student progress on BrainPOP quizzes through the integration with Google spreadsheets. After completing a quiz, students can enter your email address and their quiz results will be instantly pushed into the BrainPOP spreadsheet in your account! Google Apps Marketplace users are raving about the BrainPOP integration.  With a perfect, 5 star, rating and many glowing quotables, installing the App should be a no brainer for any school using both BrainPOP and Google Apps. BrainPOP is also excited to demo this integration at next week’s NY/NJ Google Apps for Education Summit.  However, for those who can’t make it to New Jersey, we are hosting the BrainPOP Plays Nicely with Google free webinar next Wednesday,… Read the Rest»
