Using Games in Learning Centers
Using games in learning centers not only helps your students learn; it can help you better assess their learning! GameUp and GameUp Jr. work exceptionally well as work station or learning center activities. Students can explore all the games for a selected subject (such as math) or one specific game.
Many of the games allow for differentiated game play so you can assign game levels to students based on their abilities.
Allow students to play one game over a period of several days (or even over the course of a week) so they can fine tune their skills and experiment with various strategies.
Want to know what students learned during the game-based center? You can create accountability and provide opportunities for constructive feedback through the game quiz. Have students take the quiz during centers and submit their responses to you online. You can also create an answer sheet for students to complete and hand in.
