New York, March 19 – BrainPOP, the award-winning creator of animated, curriculum-based online content, announces the appointment of Kari Stubbs, Ph.D. to the role of Director of 21st Century Learning. With more than 15 years of experience in the education, professional development and learning technology spheres, Dr. Stubbs brings a multi-faceted approach to the position. The National School Board Association included her on its 2006 list of “20 to Watch,” honoring emerging education technology leaders.
In her new role, Dr. Stubbs will focus on melding core subjects with practical frameworks that support teachers as they attempt to bring contemporary skills like global and technology awareness, financial literacy, innovative and creative thinking, and self-direction into their classrooms.

Dr. Stubbs holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kansas, where her dissertation dealt with the use of technology in teacher training. Her resume includes positions with ePals, Inc., the Advanced Learning Technologies in Education Consortium (ALTEC), the University of Kansas, and Kansas City Public Television, among others. She has often written and frequently leads workshops on the subject of technology in education.
