Tecumseh

After the Revolutionary War, the new territories of Ohio and Indiana were settled by farmers, and the American Indians who lived there were forced off their land. But one American Indian leader refused to get with the program--and in the BrainPOP movie on Tecumseh, you’ll learn how this famous warrior and statesman built a mighty confederacy to challenge the government’s actions. You’ll discover how violence between Indians and Americans influenced Tecumseh’s childhood and young adulthood, and how a religious movement led by his brother helped him build alliances between numerous tribes east of the Mississippi. You’ll also meet William Henry Harrison, the politician and military general who attempted to smash Tecumseh’s movement, and hear how an alliance with the British during the War of 1812 led to Tecumseh’s downfall.
