Why did our country battle itself? In this BrainPOP movie, Tim and Moby will teach you about the two major issues that led to the Civil War — slavery and states’ rights. Learn about the key issues that made the Confederate states feel that they needed to secede from the rest of the United States, as well as how the northern Union states felt about these issues. You’ll also find out how newly formed states fell into the slavery/states’ rights equation, and why some of the established states sided with the North on some issues, while siding with the South on others.
