BrainPOP is excited to join Code.org's Hour of AI, a new global initiative designed to help students and educators everywhere take their first step into understanding and creating with AI—and imagine what’s possible when they harness it for good.

To help classrooms get started, BrainPOP’s Curriculum & Instruction team designed a ready-to-use hands-on lesson plan and resource kit featuring our latest Digital Citizenship topic, Artificial Intelligence.

BrainPOP's AI Dilemma: Helper, Hinderer, or Hero?

BrainPOP lesson plan titled "AI Dilemma: Helper, Hinderer, or Hero?" with text on objectives, activities, materials, and colorful notes section.

Students will analyze examples of AI in daily life and categorize them as

a Helper (beneficial), Hinderer (problematic), or Hero (life-changing) to

critically evaluate their societal role using BrainPOP’s topic movie to

gather evidence to support a claim.

Grade Level: 3-8+

Time: 60 minutes

Moby the robot and a boy, Tim, in a room with a computer, posters, and books. The boy wears a shirt with an AI logo, and a click icon is visible.

Join Tim and Moby as they take students on a journey to build background knowledge on what AI is, understand the impact it can have on their daily lives, and the risks that can unfold.

For a limited time, teachers and students can explore our Artificial Intelligence topic for free.

"BrainPOP is my first stop for when I need to teach something that I am unfamiliar with in my job as a STEAM Specialist. It's an AMAZING resource! This week, during the Hour of AI activities, I was showing my students in grades 3-5 the AI movie. In the movie Moby talks. To say my students were stunned would be an understatement! I explained that it was the AI Moby and the AI Tim, but boy did they have a lot of opinions and we needed to talk about it for awhile!"
