November 2026 Movie Roundup

November is all about students noticing. On Veterans Day, they think about those who served our country; on Election Day, they observe democracy in action—and, on Thanksgiving, they think and reflect on things they are grateful for.
This month's recommended BrainPOP movies give students the background knowledge and vocabulary they need to do all of this noticing in a way that's age-appropriate, thoughtful, and silly (when it needs to be).
New on BrainPOP: Unit Rates and Dolores Huerta

Unit Rates: BrainPOP (3–8)
What's the best deal at the grocery store?
A little math can help you figure it out—and it's a useful skill for budgeting, too!

Dolores Huerta: BrainPOP Jr. (K–3)
Honor Dolores Huerta's life following her recent passing: including how she brought workers together and fought for their rights, better working conditions, and pay.
Have older students? Check out the Dolores Huerta movie for grades 3-8!
November 3: Election season

Elected representatives make decisions about everything from taxes to the minimum wage, so voting affects everyone—explore Voting, then discover how the system of checks and balances helps limit the power that any one branch can exercise with Branches of Government (grades 3–8).
For younger learners, find out how citizens can work together for the common good with Rights and Responsibilities, how mayors and governors lead communities with Local and State Governments, and how the United States government is organized and run with Branches of Government (K–3).
November 8: National STEAM Day

BrainPOP is making STEAM Day a monthlong celebration of inquiry! Join Moby's Great STEAM Showcase, November 2–December 4.
Here's how it works. You pick one big guiding question: say, how does sound get from here to your ear?
Then, your students watch movies from each field represented in STEAM—Sound for Science, Alexander Graham Bell for Technology, Engineering and Design Process for Engineering, Percussion for Arts, and Fractions for Math—to synthesize an answer to the question with a creative project.
Everything you need to join is here, including movie recommendations and activity ideas! Then, tell us how it went—and you'll get your certificate and classroom decorations, as well as a chance to win $100 for classroom supplies.*
November 11: Veterans Day

Tim and Moby explain the significance of Veterans Day, then introduce the kinds of jobs the Armed Forces perform with Armed Forces.
All November: Native American Heritage Month

Explore how Indigenous people have remained connected to their history while building vibrant, modern cultures with Native American Traditions, then discover gatherings showcasing Native music, dance, arts, and culture with Powwows (grades 3–8). Then, discover how the language skills, creativity, and memories of 29 Navajo recruits became a secret weapon during World War II with Navajo Code Talkers (grades 3–8).
For younger learners, explore different Cherokee traditions such as Stomp Dances, stickball, basket weaving, and pottery with the Cherokee, then learn about the Six Nations and how they keep their traditions and culture alive with the Iroquois (K–3).

November 26: Thanksgiving

What is the real story behind Thanksgiving?
Explore the history of the Wampanoag people and what happened when European traders and settlers arrived on their lands with Thanksgiving on BrainPOP Jr. (K–3) or Thanksgiving on BrainPOP (grades 3–8), then help younger students take the time to observe and appreciate things around them—and explore how to show and spread gratitude—with Gratitude.
